Humanity Must Remain at the center of Innovation

During the congress, Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III emphasized that while technology continues to evolve rapidly, society must ensure that human values, ethics, and inclusivity evolve alongside it. He underscored that innovation should not merely focus on trends, virality, or digital influence, but on creating meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of people and communities.
Highlighting the importance of research and education, Commissioner Apag stressed that true progress is measured by how innovation improves lives, strengthens institutions, and serves the common good. He further emphasized that innovation becomes truly valuable when grounded in empathy, accountability, and social responsibility.
The discussion also highlighted the urgent need for human-centered research and sustainable development. As institutions continue embracing digital transformation, the challenge remains to ensure that no learner, community, or sector is left behind. From improving educational accessibility and disaster preparedness to strengthening mental health support and empowering underserved communities, research must continue responding to real societal needs.
Commissioner Apag likewise encouraged young researchers, educators, and innovators to become responsible leaders of the future, individuals who understand that intelligence without compassion is dangerous, and innovation without ethics is irresponsible.
The congress served as a powerful reminder that science provides tools, technology provides speed, and innovation creates possibilities, but humanity gives all of them purpose.
