Annual Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) Meeting and Symposium 2026

At the Annual PAASE Meeting and Symposium 2026 in Bagac, Bataan, Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III delivered a strong message on the urgent transformation of Philippine higher education in the age of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
He emphasized that universities must no longer exist solely to produce graduates for employment, but must evolve into centers of research, advanced engineering, innovation, and global technological leadership.
Through the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda, the Commission on Higher Education continues to strengthen research ecosystems, industry-academe collaboration, international partnerships, and future-ready learning pathways to position Filipino talent at the center of emerging technologies.
“Hindi na sapat ang sumunod lang sa takbo ng mundo. The challenge now is to help shape where the world is going.” The Philippines already has the talent.
The mission now is to build an ecosystem powerful enough to turn that talent into innovation, innovation into industries, and industries into national transformation.
