During the first day of the summit, Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III actively engaged in the panel discussion titled “E – Expanded and Integrated Data Collection and Analytics Focus: Digitalization and Interoperability of Data.” The discussion highlighted the critical role of digital transformation in higher education governance, emphasizing the importance of integrated data systems, evidence-based decision-making, and interoperable platforms that strengthen institutional planning, monitoring, and policy development across the sector.

Throughout the summit, discussions centered on strengthening human capital development, fostering innovation, and promoting globally responsible and sustainable higher education systems. These collective efforts reaffirm the sector’s commitment to the Commission’s ACHIEVE Agenda, which guides the transformation of Philippine higher education through improved access, institutional strengthening, global competitiveness, and academic excellence.

The opening ceremony was also graced by Jude Acidre, Tingog Party-list Representative and Chair of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, whose presence underscored the strong partnership between government leaders and the academic community in advancing a shared vision for the nation’s higher education landscape.

On the second day, the summit further expanded its scope through the SDG Action Summit: Higher Education, Science, and Technology, jointly convened by the Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Science and Technology. Held at the SMX Convention Center Clark, the forum brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry, both local and international, to strengthen collaboration in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through research, innovation, and academic partnership.

As the summit concluded, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to building a future-ready higher education sector one that empowers Filipino learners, strengthens institutions, and enables universities and colleges to serve as engines of innovation, leadership, and national development.

Through continued collaboration, visionary leadership, and a shared commitment to excellence, the Higher Education Summit 2026 stands as a strong reminder that the future of Philippine higher education will be shaped by institutions that are bold in vision, disciplined in governance, and steadfast in service to the nation.
