Turning Winds into Wisdom, Challenges into Purpose

Drawing inspiration from the iconic windmills of Pililla, Rizal, Commissioner Apag reflected on a powerful truth: the windmills were not built to avoid the wind; they were built because of it. Without resistance, they cannot generate energy. Without strong winds, they cannot fulfill their purpose. In the same way, he reminded graduates that growth, wisdom, and character are often forged through life's greatest challenges.

Addressing the graduates, Commissioner Apag emphasized that a diploma is more than a symbol of academic achievement. It is evidence of perseverance, sacrifice, and determination, the result of years spent overcoming obstacles, adapting to change, and refusing to give up when the journey became difficult.

As the University of Rizal System celebrates twenty-five years of transforming lives through quality education, research, innovation, extension, and public service, Commissioner Apag challenged the graduates to carry forward the University's legacy of excellence, innovation, and service wherever their paths may lead.

The Commissioner likewise encouraged the graduates to remain lifelong learners in an era of rapid technological advancement and constant change. He reminded them that while knowledge may open doors, it is character, integrity, humility, and compassion that ultimately determine how far they will go.

In a heartfelt reflection, Commissioner Apag invited the graduates to pause and remember the parents, families, professors, mentors, and loved ones who walked beside them throughout their academic journey. He emphasized that no success is ever achieved alone and that gratitude remains one of the greatest signs of an educated person.

As the Class of 2026 embarks on new journeys, Commissioner Apag left them with a challenge inspired by the windmills of Pililla: do not ask for easier winds, learn to transform them into opportunities that bring light, hope, and positive change to others.
