Institutional Overview

Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) is a public state university located in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, and is the premier higher education institution in the province. Established as a state university through Republic Act No. 9312 in 2004, ESSU evolved from the Eastern Samar State College and traces its origins to the Eastern Samar National Regional Agricultural School, founded in 1960. The university has a multi-campus system comprising the Main Campus in Borongan and campuses in Can-avid, Guiuan, Maydolong, Salcedo, Arteche, and Balangiga, providing accessible and quality higher education across Eastern Samar. ESSU is committed to providing quality education that is responsive to national and global needs through excellence in instruction, research, extension, and innovation. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in education, agriculture, engineering, information technology, business, environmental sciences, health sciences, criminology, and other allied disciplines.
